So, it’s August, but as the best-informed lords and ladies among you are aware, winter has come.
All the smallfolk out there prone to snidely professing, “I’ve never even seen an episode of Game of Thrones,” can go back to minding their bowls o’ brown and self-loathing now. This is a post for those bannermen and lady knights of the Seven Kingdoms who don’t consider themselves too cool to geek out over great houses’ blood feuds and Valyrian dragonlore.
This is actually a post for all those willing to geek out even harder over all things Westerosi and from across the Narrow Sea, brought to you courtesy of El Grand Chamaco of Los Ramones, Mexico.
The artist has turned his attention to a set of digitally illustrated character designs depicting the leading contenders most like to rule the realms of men atop the Iron Throne. There’s queen-for-now Cersei and Jaime “Kingslayer” Lannister, and their half-pint, patricidal brother Tyrion who prefers championing the cause of a regal rival.

She’s been re-imagined, too, that violet-eyed rival with her three scaly children: Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regnant of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons.
Oh, and you’ll spot Jon Snow, he’s King in the North.
Last, but terrifyingly far from least, note the Night King and his ever marching army of the dead, who’d rather more enjoy devouring the realms of men; forget governing them justly.
Before the old gods and the new, the gang’s all here, and rendered in El Grand Chamaco’s signature, plasticised cartoon style. The whole aesthetic is less reminiscent of “Fire and Blood” than it is Legoland, but that’s all for the better. Leave the gritty brutality to the dark wizards at HBO, because epic fantasies like George R.R. Martin’s are meant to inspire in myriad ways.
